(2) DEVELOPMENT OF ASTM METHOD FOR "DETECTION OF INCLUSSIONS IN BEARING QUALITY STEEL BY THE ULTRASONIC METHOD" (MATERIAL RESEARCH AND STANDARDS, SEPT. 1969); INCLUDED ARE PERTINENT ASTM ULTRASONIC TASK FORCE CONTRIBUTIONS WHICH WILL IMPORTANTLY AFFECT RELIABILITY OF NEARLY ALL OTHER EXISTING ULTRASONIC INSPECTION SYSTEMS; FATIGUE CORRELATION STUDIES AND STEEL HEAT INCLUSION DISTRIBUTION PATTERNS ARE ALSO DISCUSSED. (3) BIFOCAL LENS, A SPECIAL FOCUSED TRANSDUCER DESIGN PERMITS OPTIMUM CONCENTRATION OF ENERGY FOR DETECTION OF MINUTE DISCONTINUITIES IN CYLINDRICALLY SHAPED PARTS.
