THE NATIONAL MEASUREMENT SYSTEM-A CONCEPT TO ASSIST THE PRIVATE SECTOR

THE CONCEPT OF A NATIONAL MEASUREMENT SYSTEM, INVOLVING THE ENTIRE COMPLEX OF MEASUREMENT ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE UNITED STATES, IS DEVELOPED. THE CENTRAL ELEMENT OF THIS MEASUREMENT SYSTEM IS THE NATIONAL BUREAU OF STANDARDS. THE ROLE OF NBS AND OF OTHER FUNCTIONAL ELEMENTS OF THE SYSTEM, SUCH AS PRIVATE LABORATORIES, IS DISCUSSED. /MTRSA/
