FRESHLY ABRASIVE BLASTED STEEL OFTEN CORRODES IN A HUMID ATMOSPHERE RESULTING IN POSSIBLE COATING FAILURE. A LABORATORY STUDY OF DRY, INHIBITIVE BLASTING METHODS SHOWED THAT INCORPORATION OF 5% STEARIC ACID IN THE ABRASIVE PROVIDED EXCELLENT INHIBITION TO ATMOSPHERIC CORROSION AND WAS SUPERIOR TO MIXTURES OF ABRASIVE AND ZINC OR ALUMINUM GRANULES.
