BUILD A BUS-CARRIED PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM IN AN ENVIRONMENT OF FAST ECONOMIC AND POPULATION GROWTH
For fast-growing metropolitan areas like Abu Dhabi, Istanbul or Bucharest, the increasingly critical success factor is the resolution of the transport problems of people and goods. Conditioned by the high attractiveness of the metropolitan areas, the population growth is increasing strongly, in particular by immigration from the more rural regions. High environmental impacts of traffic congestion and unplanned travelling times within the cities are the consequent implications. Using a model, it will be shown how, within a very short time, national wide bus-carried public transport systems could be planned and implemented compared to rail systems. In particular, the targeted design of the bus system and the connection of the entire metropolitan area, not only of the principal axes, would be considered in more detail in this example
