A New Rail Freight Service Between Herne, Germany, and Nassjo, Sweden, launched by Van Dieren Maritime BV

Van Dieren Maritime BV is a Dutch intermodal transportation company. In the autumn of 2010, the company launched a new rail freight service between Nassjo, Sweden, and Herne, Germany. Served by "Combi" trains, the route sees three departures each week in either direction. Since multi-system locomotives allow the route to be traveled without changing locomotives, an overnight transit time of 15 hours can be achieved between Herne and Nassjo. Van Dieren Maritime BV is integrating the new service line into an extensive rail network that stretches through much of Scandinavia and western Europe. Regular service between Herne and Istanbul, Turkey, is also provided.
