HOW FLORIDA KEEPS WATER UNTAINTED FROM REST STOP WASTE

CONTAMINATED WATER FROM REST STOP AREAS AND FROM SURFACE RUNOFF IS BEING RECYCLED IN SECTIONS OF FLORIDA WITH NO INCREASE IN COMPLICATED HARDWARE. AT REST STOP AREAS AUTOMATED WASTE WATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS, WHICH ARE CAPABLE OF HANDLING UP TO 20,000 GALLONS A DAY, HAVE BEEN INSTALLED. THE WASTE WATER IS PUMPED TO SPRAY IRRIGATION HEADS WHICH RECYCLE THE WATER INTO NEARBY FORESTED AREAS. SURFACE RUNOFF IS CHANNELED THROUGH A DRAINAGE PIPE INTO A RETENTION POND, WHERE WATER DISTRIBUTION TRUCKS COLLECT IT AND USE IT FOR DUST ABATEMENT AND SUBBASE COMPACTION.
