TRAINING PROGRAMS, TOLL PLAZA MAINTENANCE AND OTHER EVALUATION AND IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS WERE ALSO DISCUSSED. LATER, INTEREST WAS SHOWN IN PERSONNEL RECRUITMENT, ORGANIZATION, AND ASPECTS SUCH AS SAFETY AND PATRON SERVICE. DETAILED REVIEWS OF THESE CONFERENCES AND DISCUSSIONS COULD PROVE INVALUABLE. BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE ON THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE IS RELATED. STRESS IS LAID ON MAINTENANCE SCHEDULES. THE ORGANIZATION AND FUNCTIONS OF THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT IS DISCUSSED. A MANAGEMENT TRAINING COURSE FOR SUPERVISORS, AND AN APPRENTICE COURSE TIED INTO LOCAL COMMUNITY VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS ARE ALSO OUTLINED.
