PLASTICS FOR IMPROVING ROAD SURFACINGS

TESTS CARRIED OUT ON PLASTIC MATERIALS SHOWED THAT SYNTHETIC RESIN CONCRETE BASED ON EPOXY AND POLYESTER RESINS IS STRONGER THAN BITUMEN OR CEMENT AND HAS A GREATER RESISTANCE TO DE-ICING SALTS. IT WAS ALSO SHOWN THAT SYNTHETIC RESIN CAN BE USED TO IMPREGNATE OLD CONCRETE SURFACINGS, OR CAN BE ADMIXED WITH BITUMEN TO IMPROVE ITS PLASTICITY. THE SUCCESSFUL ADMIXTURE OF RUBBER TO BITUMEN AND THE USE OF LUCOBIT TO IMPROVE ASPHALTIC CONCRETE AND GUSSASPHALT IS ALSO DESCRIBED. /TRRL/
