TOO FAST IN FOG
AN ACCIDENT ON THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE IS DESCRIBED. THERE WERE 29 CARS AND TRUCKS INVOLVED, SIX FATALITIES, 20 CARS DEMOLISHED, AND SIX TRUCKS DESTROYED OR DAMAGED. SOME OF THE TRUCKS WERE CARRYING GASOLINE OR PROPANE, AND EXPLOSIONS AND FIRES RESULTED. FIVE OF THE SIX FATALITIES WERE BURNED TO DEATH, AND THE PAVEMENT WAS SO BADLY DAMAGED IT HAD TO BE REPAVED. THE ACCIDENT IS DESCRIBED IN DETAIL TO ILLUSTRATE THE DANGERS OF ALLOWING TRUCKS CARRYING FLAMMABLE CARGOES TO DRIVE ON SUPERHIGHWAYS IN FOG. /HSL/
