EFFECTIVENESS OF TRAFFIC SAFETY FILMS IN RELATION TO EMOTIONAL INVOLVEMENT

A REVIEW OF SIX STUDIES PERTAINING TO COMMUNICATION EFFECTIVENESS IN RELATION TO ANXIETY AROUSAL WAS MADE. THE EFFECTS OF AROUSAL ON RECALL OF FILMED MATERIAL SUGGEST THAT FILMS MAY BE MORE EFFECTIVE IF ANXIETY IS INDUCED. A MODEL RELATING RETENTION INTERVAL AND AROUSAL INCREMENT TO INFORMATION ACCESSIBILITY IS RECOMMENDED.
