SURFACE DAMAGE TO RIGID PAVEMENTS CAUSED BY DE-ICING SALTS. LABORATORY STUDY /IN FRENCH & DUTCH/
THE THERMAL SHOCK CAUSED BY THE APPLICATION OF DE-ICING SALTS CAN RESULT IN DAMAGE TO CONCRETE SURFACINGS. A LABORATORY TEST METHOD IS DESCRIBED WHICH CONSISTS OF APPLYING COLD BRINE TO A CONCRETE SURFACE, REPRODUCING THE THE SCALING OBSERVED ON ROAD SURFACES.
