The Current Situation and Vistas of the Application for Crumb-rubber Asphalt Pavement in China

Crumb-rubber asphalt pavements have been studied in China for 30 years. The use of this technique has increased with the rapid development of expressways in China. Crumb rubber asphalt is particularly useful for improving the performance of asphalt concrete, increasing its durability and reducing maintenance costs. It is particularly useful for enhancing the high-temperature stability of asphalt under heavy loads and for reducing the noise from urban traffic. The development of the crumb rubber asphalt pavement in China is reviewed and some technical solutions are put forward for the use of crumb rubber in asphalt pavement to reduce rutting, water damage, cracking and noise.
