HEAT RESISTANCE OF AGGREGATES FOR BITUMINOUS MIXTURES (IN GERMAN)

SOME AGGREGATES UNDERGO DISADVANTAGEOUS CHANGES ON PASSING THROUGH THE DRYING DRUM, E.G. LOOSENING OF THE STRUCTURE, SEPARATION OF HYDRATION WATER, AND CHEMICAL INFLUENCES SUCH AS THE EXPLOSIVE EFFECT OF WATER IN THE PORES. THE RESULTS OF INVESTIGATIONS ARE NOT YET SUFFICIENT TO SET UP GENERALLY-APPLICABLE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR HEAT RESISTANCE. POSSIBLY A FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THE DRYING DRUMS WITH THE OBJECT OF MORE CAREFUL DRYING AND HEATING OF THE AGGREGATES MIGHT BE CARRIED OUT.
