BLAST FURNACE SLAG ADDED TO PORTLAND CEMENT
THE MAIN KINDS OF BLAST FURNACE SLAGS AND THEIR APPLICATION ARE GIVEN. CHEMICAL AND MINERALOGICAL COMPOSITIONS OF GRANULATED SLAG, AND MECHANISM OF SLAG HYDRATION ARE DISCUSSED. GRANULATED BLAST FURNACE SLAG HYDRATES IN THE MIXTURE WITH PORTLAND CEMENT, AND GIVES COMPOUNDS WITH CEMENT PROPERTIES. AT FRIST, THE STRENGTH OF THE BLAST FURNACE SLAG CEMENT IS LOWER THAN THAT OF THE PURE PORTLAND CEMENT BECAUSE OF THE SLOW HYDRATION OF THE SLAG. LATER, THE BLAST FURNACE SLAG CEMENT OBTAINS THE SAME STRENGTH AS THE PORTLAND CEMENT. /AUTHOR/
