PREDICTION OF ICEBREAKER CAPABILITY
This analysis deals with the prediction of dynamically developed force at the bow of an icebreaker during encounter with virtually unyielding ice, prediction of downward force existing during uninterrupted progress and prediction of extraction difficulty. A list of changes in parameters which significantly increase maximum icebreaker capability is given. The recommended bow profile for a polar icebreaker is shown.
