NUMERICAL METHOD FOR THE INTERPRETATION OF THE CONVENTIONAL PRESSOMETER TEST
EXPLOITATION DE L'ESSAI PRESSIOMETRIQUE NORMAL PAR METHODE NUMERIQUE
ALTHOUGH THE CONVENTIONAL PRESSIOMETER TEST HAS BECOME STANDARD PRACTICE IN SOIL MECHANICS, THE PLOTTING OF THE CURVE (P,V) AND THE CALCULATION OF THE CHARACTERISTICS ALPHA AND PL REMAIN RATHER SUBJECTIVE: THE DETERMINATION OF THE LIMIT PRESSURE, IN PARTICULAR, DEPENDS, TO A CERTAIN EXTENT, ON THE OPERATOR. A MORE RATIONAL METHOD OF DETERMINING PRESSURE CHARACTERISTICS WITH A COMPUTER IS PRESENTED. THE RESULTS OBTAINED WITH SEVERAL STANDARD TYPES OF SOIL ARE COMPARED WITH THOSE OBTAINED WITH THE CONVENTIONAL METHOD OR MORE SOPHISTICATED EXISTING TECHNIQUES.
