A STUDY OF THE THERMAL BEHAVIOUR OF BLAST-FURNACE SLAG BY MEANS OF A HEATING MICROSCOPE
A STUDY OF THE THERMAL BEHAVIOUR OF BLAST-FURNACE SLAG WAS UNDERTAKEN WITH A HEATING MICROSCOPE. INFORMATION WAS OBTAINED ON THE SINTERING, SOFTENING, SWELLING, AND MELTING OF SLAG. X-RAY DIFFRACTOMETRY SERVED TO IDENTIFY THE CRYSTALLINE PHASES AS THEY OCCURRED IN THE HEAT-TREATED SLAGS. THERMAL CHARACTERISTICS ARE DISCUSSED WITH REFERENCE TO THE REACTIVITY OF BLAST-FURNACE SLAG. /RRL/
