CATAMARAN STUDY. VOLUME V. CATAMARAN HYDRODYNAMICS
The resistance data presented in the volume pertain to a specific catamaran based on one symmetrical demi hull design, tested singly or in pairs at various drafts and spacings. Responses to head seas are given and compared with a theoretical computerized assessment of same. Rolling motions are determined experimentally and compared with a new theoretical approach devised specifically for catamarans. Experimental and theoretical results are shown to be in fair agreement, but further refinement of the beam area analysis is indicated. In general, the resistance results confirm previous tests on catamarans, and seaway motions are seen to be of acceptable magnitudes. ( Author )
