STRUCTURAL LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE
HORMIGONES LIVIANOS ESTRUCTURALES
THIS ARTICLE DESCRIBES THE STATE OF THE ART OF THE MANUFACTURE OF LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE (WITH COAL SLAG, EXPANDED BLAST-FURNACE SLAG, EXPANDED CLAY AND SHALE, EXPANDED SLATE, PUMICE STONE, VOLCANIC LAVA, ETC), AND ITS MAIN PROPERTIES: DENSITY, TENSILE AND COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH, MODULUS OF FAILURE, MODULUS OF ELASTICITY, CREEP, ADHESION, SHEAR STRENGTH, DRYING SHRINKAGE, RESISTANCE TO FIRE AND PERMEABILITY. RESULTS OBTAINED WITH CONCRETE CONTAINING NATURAL ROUNDED-GRAIN SAND, CLAY EXPANDED THROUGH BAKING AND VARIOUS PORTLAND CEMENT ARE GIVEN.
