A SURVEY IS GIVEN OF (1) PREFABRICATED PLASTICS PRODUCTS, WHICH SOMETIMES ARE APPLIED TO ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION, E.G. FOAM PLASTICS PLATES FOR INSULATION, FABRIC NETTINGS FOR REINFORCEMENT, AND FILM FOR COVERING, AND (2) SYNTHETIC RESINS (POLYESTER, EPOXY, POLYURETHANE, AND ACRYLIC RESINS). THE APPLICATION FO THE LAST-NAMED MATERIALS AND THEIR ADVANTAGES AND DRAW-BACKS ARE DISCUSSED. THE COMPOSITION OF PLASTICS MORTARS AND SLURRIES, WHICH ARE APPLIED TO STEEL, WOODEN, OR CONCRETE BRIDGE DECKS AND TO BITUMINOUS PAVEMENTS FOR VARIOUS PURPOSES, IS DESCRIBED. THE PROBLEM OF THE STRIPPING OF STONE CHIPPINGS FROM SYNTHETIC RESIN WEARING COURSES IS BRIEFLY DISCUSSED. SEVERAL APPLLICATIONS OF PLASTICS MATERIALS TO ROAD CONSTRUCTION ARE STILL IN AN EXPERIMENTAL STAGE. /SWOV/RWL/ RRL/
