SPECIAL INJECTIONS FOR REPAIR STABILIZATION AND WATERPROOFING /IN FRENCH/

INJECTIONS WITH AN ORGANIC RESIN BASE ARE CLASSIFIED INTO TWO MAIN CATEGORIES: (1) PRECONDENSED RESINS WITHOUT SOLVENT. THEY COMPRISE THE THERMOSETTING RESINS WHICH CAN POLYMERIZE COLD UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF A HARDENING AGENT (POLYPOXY, POLYURETHANE), CATALYZER (POLYESTER, POLYSULPHIDE) OR EVEN SOMETIMES ONLY THE HUMIDITY IN THE AIR, THE WATER ACTING AS A CATALYZER (SILICONE AND SOME POLYURETHANES). THE STRENGTH OF RESINS, ONCE CATALYZED, INCREASES A GREAT DEAL TOGETHER WITH THEIR ELASTICITY. THEY CAN BE USED IN THE TREATMENT OF CRACKED OR LOW-QUALITY CONCRETE. (2) WATER-SOLUBLE MONOMERS. SOME MONOMERS OF THE ACRYLAMIDE, PHENOPLASTIC AND AMINOPLASTIC TYPE CAN DISSOLVE IN WATER IN ANY PROPORTION AND POLYMERIZE COLD WITHOUT SEPARATING FROM THE WATER OF THE MIXTURE. THE MECHANICAL STRENGTH OF THESE AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS AFTER POLYMERIZATION IS MUCH SMALLER THAN THAT OF RESINS WITHOUT SOLVENT; THEY ARE ESPECIALLY USED FOR WATERPROOFING PURPOSES OR FOR STABILIZING FINE POWDERY SOIL. THEY ARE MORE FLUID THAN STANDARD PRODUCTS CONTAINING CEMENT, SILICATE, LIGNOSULPHITE, ETC. /LCPC(A)/RRL/
