RAEUMLICHES ORIENTIERUNGSVERHALTEN VON KRAFTFAHRERN

THE AIM WAS TO ESTABLISH THE STRUCTURE OF THE ORIENTATION PROCESS AND CONVERSION OF INFORMATION, FEATURES WHICH ARE LINKED TO THE ACHIEVEMENT OF A DISTANT GOAL. THE PROCEDURE WAS AS FOLLOWS:- (1) GROUP DISCUSSIONS, (2) INTENSIVE PSYCHOLOGICAL INTERVIEWS CARRIED OUT IN SELECTED AREAS OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY. THE RESULTS OF THE STUDY WERE AS FOLLOWS:- SPATIAL ORIENTATION IS BASED ON COGNITIVE BASIC STRUCTURES AS A RESULT OF UNCONSCIOUS LEARNING PROCEDURES. THESE ARE CLOSELY RELATED TO INDIVIDUAL CHARACTERISTICS SUCH AS SEX, AGE AND TRAINING. THE ORIENTATION PROCESS IS DIVIDED INTO A PREPARATORY PHASE AND AN ORIENTATION PHASE. IN THE PREPARATORY PHASE THERE IS A RESORT TO EDUCATIONAL AIDS SUCH AS MAPS AND ATLASES, AND PERSONAL CONTACT IS OF SIGNIFICANCE. ORIENTATION DURING THE JOURNEY IS BASED ON THE OBLIGATION PRINCIPLE. SIGNPOSTS SERVE AS THE MAIN INDICATION OF THE ACCURACY OF DIRECTION-RELATED DECISIONS. ORIENTATIONAL DIFFICULTIES ARE REPRESENTED AS INFORMATIONAL DEFECTS WHICH CAN RESULT FROM EITHER AN INFORMATION DEFICIT OR AN UNDIFFERENTIATED INFORMATIONAL CHOICE.
