RESEARCH PROJECT "RECOMMENDED SPEED 130": PREPARATION OF ACCIDENT DATA WITH REFERENCE TO TRAFFIC DENSITY AND ROAD DATA FROM THE EXPERIMENTAL ROADS

FORSCHUNGSPROJEKT "RICHTGESCHWINDIGKEIT 130": AUFBEREITUNG DER UNFALLDATEN UNTER EINBEZIEHUNG VON VERKEHRSMENGENDATEN UND STRASSENDATEN DER TESTSTRECKEN

THE RESEARCH IS PART OF THE PROJECT "RECOMMENDED SPEED 130", FOR WHICH A SPEED LIMIT OF 130 KM/H WAS SET ON A NUMBER OF EXPERIMENTAL SECTIONS IN THE GERMAN MOTORWAY NETWORK, WHILE ON COMPARABLE SECTIONS THERE WAS ONLY A "RECOMMENDED" SPEED OF 130 KM/H. IN ORDER TO EVALUATE ACCIDENTS UNDER BOTH TYPES OF CONTROL, ACCIDENT DATA ARE BEING CODED AND TRANSFERRED TO PUNCHED CARDS. FOR EACH ACCIDENT DATA ARE BEING INCLUDED ON TRAFFIC DENSITY AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT AND ROAD CHARACTERISTICS AT THE SITE OF THE ACCIDENT. THE DATA BEING COLLECTED WILL SERVE AS A BASIS FOR FURTHER RESEARCH ON THE PROJECT.
