IN THE USE OF PREFABRICATED METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION IN PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BRIDGE BUILDING, LONGITUDINAL BEAMS ARE FIRST PRODUCED, WHICH ARE THEN JOINED TO THE DECK SLAB AND TRANSVERSE BEAMS IN A PLATE CONSTRUCTION. THE HEAVY PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BEAMS MAY ALSO BE CONCRETED ON SITE BY MEANS OF SLIDING STEEL FORMWORK. ONLY A HALF SHUTTER IS THEN REQUIRED, WHICH CONSISTS OF A PRESTRESSED HOLLOW BOX GIRDER. THE SHUTTER SOFFIT IS SUSPENDED UNDERNEATH. PARTIAL PRESTRESSING COMPENSATES FOR THE SELF WEIGHT MOMENTS. DURING CONCRETING PRESTRESSING IS APPLIED GRADUALLY. A WARM AIR PLANT WITH A VENTILATOR PRODUCES THERMAL ENERGY AND A WARM AIR CURRENT. ONE BEAM PER DAY IS PRODUCED. THE FOLLOWING SAVINGS ARE ACHIEVED: CONCRETE 10 - 20%, TRANSVERSE REINFORCEMENT 40%, NORMAL STEEL REINFORCEMENT 20 - 40%. COMPLETED STRUCTURES ARE DESCRIBED.
