USE OF THE FINITE ELEMENT METHOD FOR THE CALCULATION OF THE INFLUENCE OF NON LINEAR MATERIAL BEHAVIOUR ON THE TORSION RESISTANCE AND SHEAR CENTRE LOCATION OF THICK-WALLED CROSS SECTIONS

VARIOUS SLIDING MODULII WERE ASSIGNED TO THE FINITE ELEMENTS IN ORDER TO INVESTIGATE THE LOADING DEPENDENCE OF THESE CROSS SECTIONAL PARAMETERS WHICH OCCURS WHEN THE NON LINEAR MATERIAL LAWS OF CONCRETE ARE USED AS A BASIS OF CALCULATION. WITH THE AID OF TWO EXAMPLES, ONE OF A RECTANGULAR AND THE OTHER OF A T-SECTION, THE DEPENDENCE OF THE TORSION RESISTANCE AND THE SHEAR CENTRE LOCATION FOR A GIVEN COMPRESSIVE STRAIN IS OBTAINED.
