CALCULATION OF THE PLANE SKIDDING MOVEMENTS OF A VEHICLE

BEITRAG ZUR BERECHNUNG EBENER SCHLEUDERBEWEGUNGEN EINES KRAFTFAHRZEUGES

BY THE USE OF A FOUR-WHEEL VEHICLE MODEL WITH FREELY OPERATING, NON-DRIVER INFLUENCED, RACK AND PINION TRAPEZOID STEERING, THE PLANE SKIDDING MOVEMENT OF A MOTOR CAR WAS INVESTIGATED FOR THE CASE OF UNBRAKED WHEELS. THE NON-LINEAR MOVEMENT DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS WERE NUMERICALLY INTEGRATED IN TWO EXAMPLES WITH GIVEN STARTING VALUES FOR EACH MOVEMENT. THE RESULTS ARE GIVEN IN TERMS OF THE COMPLETE TEMPORAL DEVIATION OF THE MAGNITUDE OF MOVEMENT OF THE VEHICLE CHASSIS, OF THE ADJUSTMENT OF THE STEERING SYSTEM PRODUCED BY THE TYRE FORCES, OF THE SKEWED RUNNING ANGLE AND THE DISTORTED LOADING PATTERN ON THE FOUR VEHICLE WHEELS AND RUNNING SURFACE RESPECTIVELY AND MEAN TIME VALUES FOR THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY RETARDATION OF THE VEHICLE. THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY LAG CALCULATED FOR THE SKIDDING MOVEMENT LIES ESSENTIALLY AMONGST THOSE VALUES, WHICH CAN BE ACHIEVED UNDER SIMILAR SERVICE CONDITIONS BY AN OPTIMAL REGULAR BRAKING OF THE VEHICLE. ESSENTIAL CONCLUSIONS ARE THEREBY OBTAINED WHICH WILL HELP IN THE RECONSTRUCTION AND PROPER JUDGMENT OF TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS.
