TECHNICAL TESTING OF VEHICLES

DIE TECHNISCHE PRUEFUNG VON KRAFTFAHRZEUGEN

THE EXTENT, FORM AND INTERVALS OF THE TECHNICAL TESTING OF VEHICLES VARY IN DIFFERENT EUROPEAN COUNTRIES. THE AUTHOR TOUCHES UPON THE DIFFERENT ADMINISTRATIONS AND THE POSSIBILITIES OF STANDARDISATION IN SWEDEN, GREAT BRITAIN, FRANCE, BELGIUM AND THE GERMAN FEDERAL REPUBLIC. THE DIRECTIONS OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITY FOR THE TECHNICAL INSPECTION OF VEHICLES AND TRAILERS ARE ENUMERATED. THEY ARE CRITICISED ON THE GROUNDS THAT THEY FALL BEHIND THOSE PRESENT IN FORCE IN THE GERMAN FEDERAL REPUBLIC. THE PAST EXPERIENCE OF OFFICIAL TECHNICAL TESTING OF VEHICLES IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES COULD BE HELPFUL IN DETERMINING THE EXTENT AND INTERVAL OF INSPECTIONS. THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THESE OFFICIAL TECHNICAL INSPECTION ORGANISATIONS RESOLVED IN 1969 TO FORM THE "INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE TECHNICAL INSPECTION OF VEHICLES". THIS ASSOCIATION SEES ITS MAJOR TASK AS REACHING UNIFIED STANDARDS FOR THE REGULAR INSPECTION OF VEHICLES.
