DETERMINATION OF A SUITABLE METHOD OF TESTING THE BRITTLE FRACTURE SENSITIVITY OF PRESTRESSING STEELS

UNTERSUCHUNGEN ZUR ERMITTLUNG EINES GEEIGNETEN PRUEFVERFAHRENS ZUR FESTSTELLUNG DER SPROEDBRUCHEMPFINDLICHKEIT VON SPANNSTAEHLEN

THE AIM OF THE INVESTIGATION CONSISTS IN OBTAINING MORE INFORMATION REGARDING THE BRITTLE-FAILURE RESISTANCE OF PRESTRESSING STEELS AND A SUITABLE MATERIAL CHARACTERISTIC WHICH CAN BE OBTAINED USING AN ACCEPTABLE TEST METHOD. IF THIS OBJECTIVE IS ACHIEVED THIS VALUE CAN BE DETERMINED FOR ALL OFFICIAL AUTHORIZATIONS AND TESTS AND CAN BE USED AS A QUALITY CHARACTERISTIC. THE MAIN PRESTRESSING STEELS USED ARE BEING TESTED FOR THEIR BRITTLE-FAILURE RESISTANCE: IN ADDITION, THE VARIOUS TEST METHODS SUCH AS TENSILE TESTS WITH DIFFERENT NOTCHES, BENDING TESTS WITH DIFFERENT NOTCHES, NOTCHED-IMPACT-BENDING TEST, ROBERTSON TEST, DROP-WEIGHT TEST, FATIGUE TEST ON NOTCHED SAMPLES ARE BEING EMPLOYED AND THE RESULTS COMPARED.
