AUTOMATIC GUIDANCE OF MOTOR VEHICLES

AUTOMATISCHES FUEHREN VON KRAFTFAHRZEUGEN

A SYSTEM OF AUTOMATIC GUIDANCE FOR MOTOR VEHICLES IS DESCRIBED IN WHICH A GOODS VEHICLE WITHOUT A DRIVER FOLLOWS A GUIDANCE CABLE IN THE CARRIAGEWAY. THE CABLE IS FED FROM A CONTROL STATION WITH LOW FREQUENCY ALTERNATING CURRENT AND ALSO TRANSMITS SIGNALS TO CONTROL THE SPEED AND ALSO THE STOPPING AND STARTING OF THE VEHICLE. SAFETY EQUIPMENT ENSURES THAT THE VEHICLE IS HALTED IN TIME WHEN OBSTACLES ARE ENCOUNTERED OR FAULTS OCCUR IN THE SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN TESTED SUCCESSFULLY ON EXPERIMENTAL TRACKS AND ALSO ON A STRETCH OF MOTORWAY WHICH HAD NOT BEEN OPENED TO TRAFFIC.
