THE CONCEPT OF STABILITY IN STEEL ENGINEERING AS DEFINED IN DIN STANDARD 4114 IS INSUFFICIENTLY DEFINED FOR THE PRESENT STATE OF THE ART. A RESTRUCTURING OF THE CONCEPT IS REQUIRED FOR THE REVISION OF THIS STANDARD. THIS IS TO BE DONE ON THE BASIS OF SYSTEMATIC DETERMINATION OF THE MOST RECENT KNOWLEDGE AT HOME AND ABROAD; A COLLECTION OF SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE ON RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN THE FIELD OF STABILITY IN STEEL ENGINEERING, PARTICULARLY IN BAR AND PLANE LOAD BEARING STRUCTURES. SPECIAL INDIVIDUAL STUDIES OF DEFINED CASES OF STABILITY ARE NOT ANTICIPATED; PREFERENCE IS TO BE GIVEN TO A SYSTEMATIC SURVEY OF THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF CALCULATING CASES OF STABILITY, WHICH SHOULD BE USED FOR RESTRUCTURING THE CONCEPT OF STABILITY. THE RESULTS OF THE STUDY ARE TO BE APPLIED TO THE REVISION OF DIN STANDARD 4114 - PRINCIPLES FOR CALCULATING CASES OF STABILITY IN STEEL ENGINEERING.
