IN ORDER TO INCREASE ROAD SAFETY IN WINTER, DOCUMENTS HAVE TO BE PREPARED ON THE BASIS OF WHICH A DESIGN LOAD CASE DELTA T CAN BE SPECIFIED AS A RESULT OF HEATING OF THE SURFACE OF THE BRIDGE. MOREOVER DOCUMENTS FOR DETERMINING THE ENERGY REQUIRED FOR BRIDGE HEATING HAVE TO BE COLLECTED. THE PLAN OF WORK IS: 1 - TO DERIVE A DESIGN CASE DELTA T FOR MASSIVE BRIDGES WHICH TAKES ACCOUNT OF THE DIFFERENCES IN TEMPERATURE TO WHICH BRIDGE STRUCTURES ARE SUBJECTED THROUGH HEAT FROM THE SUN AND DIFFERENT AIR TEMPERATURES (BOX GIRDER INSIDE TEMPERATURE AND BOX GIRDER OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE), AND ESTABLISHMENT OF THE EXTENT TO WHICH NATURAL STRESSES RESULTING FRO A NON-LINEAR COURSE OF TEMPERATURE IN THE CROSS-SECTION OF THE BRIDGE HAVE TO BE CONSIDERED; 2 - TO DERIVE A DESIGN CASE DELTA T FOR MASSIVE BRIDGES WHICH TAKES ACCOUNT OF THE DIFFERENCES IN TEMPERATURE TO WHICH BRIDGE STRUCTURES ARE SUBJECTED THROUGH CARRIAGEWAY HEATING, AND ESTABLISHMENT OF THE EXTENT TO WHICH NATURAL STRESSES RESULTING FROM A NON-LINEAR TEMPERATURE CROSS-SECTION HAVE TO BE CONSIDERED; 3 - TO DETERMINE THE ENERGY REQUIRED FOR HEATING A BRIDGE AND TO CALCULATE THE COSTS OF AN INSTALLATION OF THIS TYPE - MEASUREMENTS ARE TO BE MADE ON THE GUMHEIM ELEVATED ROAD STRUCTURE (STRUCTURE K 1, NORTH-WEST ROAD) IN FRANKFURT OVER A PERIOD OF AT LEAST 18 MONTHS.
