THE PROJECT IS A CONTINUATION OF EARLIER STUDIES ON ROUND COLUMNS TO CLARIFY THE INTERACTION OF CONCRETE AND STEEL, AND PARTICULARLY IN THE REGION OF AN OVERLAPPING JOINT IN WALLS WHICH IS SUBJECTED TO COMPRESSIVE STRESS. THE TESTS ARE BEING CARRIED OUT ON WALL-TYPE SAMPLES. THE CROSS-SECTION OF ALL SAMPLES SHOULD BE FB = 120 X 15 = 1800 SQ.CM, AND THE HEIGHT OF THE SAMPLES SHOULD BE H = 1.40 M. PRELIMINARY TESTS WITH NON-IMPACTED REINFORCING BARS AND MAIN TESTS WITH OVERLAPPING JOINTS ARE ANTICIPATED. IN PARTICULAR THE INFLUENCE OF THE GRADE OF REINFORCEMENT, THE SPACING OF THE BARS, THE CONCRETE COVER AND THE LENGTH OF THE COVER IS TO BE EXAMINED.
