CONTINUOUS REINFORCED CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION SUBJECTED TO STRESS BY FIRE

DURCHLAUFENDE STAHLBETONKONSTRUKTIONEN UNTER BRANDBEANSPRUCHUNG

THE AIM OF THE STUDIES CARRIED OUT WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE PROJECT WAS TO DETERMINE A GOOD, EFFECTIVE CONDUCTION OF THE TOP REINFORCEMENT OF CONTINUOUS REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS STRESSED BY FIRE, AND TO STUDY THE INFLUENCE OF THE BENDING STIFFNESS ON THE FIRE RESISTANCE IN RELATION TO FORCED STRESS CONDITIONS RESULTING FROM NON-LINEAR TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION IN THE CROSS-SECTION. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT GREAT IMPORTANCE IS ATTACHED TO STRUCTURAL DESIGN AND IN PARTICULAR TO ADEQUATE BONDING OF THE TOP REINFORCEMENT. STAGGERING THE REINFORCEMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PLASTIC SUPPORT MOMENT APPEARS TO BE NECESSARY, AS THE COMPULSION MOMENT ACTS AGAINST THE PLASTIC MOMENT. THE FIRE RESISTANCE DURATIONS ACHIEVED SHOW THAT THE COLUMN REINFORCEMENT CROSS-SECTION ONLY NEEDS TO BE DESIGNED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONDITIONS OF USE. PARTICULAR ATTENTION MUST BE PAID TO ADEQUATE ANCHORAGE OF THE REINFORCEMENT.
