"PARK AND RIDE". EXPERIENCES IN ERFURT FROM A SERIES OF EXPERIMENTS OVER SEVERAL YEARS

PARKEN UND PENDELN (P + P). ERFURTER ERFAHRUNGEN AUS EINER MEHRJAEHRIGEN VERSUCHSSERIE

FROM A FIVE YEAR SERIES OF EXPERIMENTS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MEASURES UNDERTAKEN FOR ORGANISING TRANSPORTATION AND THEIR ELEMENTS OF ATTRACTIVENESS ARE ANALYSED. ON THE BASIS OF THE EXPERIENCE OBTAINED, A COMPLEX STUDY WAS POSSIBLE OF THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PARK AND RIDE SYSTEM IN THE TOWN OF ERFURT. THIS ENABLED RECOMMENDATIONS TO BE MADE REGARDING THE TOWN'S GENERAL TRANSPORTATION PLANNING. A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EXPERIMENTAL WORK IS GIVEN IN WHICH CRITICAL EVALUATIONS AND ANALYSES ARE SUMMARIZED FROM THE RESULTS. PROBABLY THE MOST PURPOSEFUL SOLUTION IS TO CONSIDER THE PARK AND RIDE SYSTEM WITH EACH TYPE OF SURFACE PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM IN ORDER OF THEIR EFFICIENCY SINCE THE EFFECTIVENESS WAS OBSERVED TO DEPEND DIRECTLY ON THE QUALITY OF THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM. IN THIS CONNECTION THE IMPORTANCE WAS EMPHASIZED OF LONG-TERM THEORETICAL CONCEPTION OF PARK AND RIDE WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF GENERAL TRANSPORTATION PLANNING. SEE ALSO IRRD ABSTRACT NO 305555.
