RAPID HARDENING CONCRETE WITH A SPECIAL CEMENT

SCHNELLERHAERTENDER BETON MIT EINEM SPEZIALZEMENT

IF PORTLAND CEMENT 550 WITH HEAT CURING DOES NOT SUFFICE FOR THE SPECIFIED RAPID HARDENING, RAPID CEMENTS MUST BE USED WHICH ARE KNOWN IN AMERICA AS REGULATED-SET-CEMENT. THE GERMAN HEIDELBERGER RAPID CEMENT 450 F CONTAINS A SPECIAL ALUMINATE COMPOUND FROM AN ADDITIONAL CLINKER PHASE WHICH BRINGS ABOUT A PARTICULARLY FAST SETTING AND HARDENING. APART FROM SETTING TIME, SULPHATE CONTENT AND HEAT LOSS, ALL THE REQUIREMENTS OF CEMENT STANDARDS ARE FULFILLED. THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS ON ITS USE. THE PROPERTIES OF THIS CEMENT SUCH AS MIXING AND PLACING TIME, DEVELOPMENT OF STRENGTH RELATIVE TO WATER-CEMENT RATIO AND HARDENING TEMPERATURE, HEAT GENERATION, SHRINKAGE AND CREEP ARE ALL EXPLAINED WITH EXAMPLES. THESE ARE FOLLOWED BY INFORMATION ON CURING AND POSSIBILITIES OF ADDING RETARDERS. AMONGST OTHER AREAS OF USAGE THOSE OF PRIMING, SEALING, CONCRETE REPAIRING, WINTER CONCRETING, AND MANUFACTURING OF CONCRETE GOODS ARE SUGGESTED AND SUPPLEMENTED WITH EXAMPLES.
