INFLUENCES ON THE PRODUCTION OF AIR ENTRAINED CONCRETE FOR CONCRETE ROAD CONSTRUCTION

THE RANGE OF APPLICATION FOR AIR ENTRAINED CONCRETE IS EXPLAINED: THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE WORKABILITY OF FRESH CONCRETE, PROTECTION OF GREEN CONCRETE AGAINST DRYING CRACKS, PROTECTION OF THE HARDENED CONCRETE AGAINST FROST AND ATTACK FROM DE-ICING SALTS. THE EFFECTS OF FROST AND DE-ICING SALT ATTACK ARE DESCRIBED, AS WELL AS THE METHOD OF WORKING OF AIR ENTRAINING AGENTS. PARTICULAR ATTENTION IS GIVEN TO THE INFLUENCES ON CONCRETE COMPOSITION, CONCRETE MIXING, CONCRETE TEMPERATURE AND PLACING, FACTORS WHICH ALTER THE AIR VOID CONTENT IN AIR ENTRAINED CONCRETE. ON THE BASIS OF TEST RESULTS, THE ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE OF THE INDIVIDUAL RELATIONSHIPS ARE DESCRIBED.
