PROTECTION AGAINST WIND IN ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION

UNTERSUCHUNG UEBER WINDSCHUTZMASSNAHMEN IM ZUSAMMENHANG MIT DEM STRASSEN- UND BRUECKENBAU

THE DANGEROUS EFFECTS OF SIDE WINDS ON VEHICLES, PARTICULARLY ON HIGH BRIDGES, ARE BEING SYSTEMATICALLY EXAMINED. WIND TUNNEL TESTS ARE BEING CARRIED OUT TO DETERMINE THE RELATIONS BETWEEN THE DISTRIBUTION OF WIND FLOWS, WIND SPEEDS AND PRESSURES ON INDIVIDUAL BRIDGE TYPES WITH REFERENCE TO THEIR CROSS SECTIONAL DESIGN AND THEIR DIMENSIONS. RELATIONS ARE TO BE SOUGHT BETWEEN WIND STRENGTH AND DIRECTION ON BRIDGES AND OBSERVATIONS MADE BY WEATHER STATIONS NEARBY, AND EQUIPMENT FOR PROTECTING AND WARNING AGAINST WINDY CONDITIONS IS TO BE DEVELOPED AND TESTED.
