THE VARIOUS AREAS OF USE OF SOIL STABILIZATION WITH CEMENT

DIE VERSCHIEDENEN ANWENDUNGSGEBIETE DER BODENVERFESTIGUNG MIT ZEMENT

SOIL STABILIZATION WITH CEMENT AND ITS VARIOUS FIELDS OF USE HAVE INCREASED IN IMPORTANCE. THE INTRODUCTION OF TVV 74 AND TVT 72 HAS PROVIDED THE PREREQUISITES FOR SATISFACTORY PLACING TO TENDER, COMPLETION OF WORK AND ACCEPTANCE OF THIS METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION. IT IS ALSO COVERED BY THE REGULATIONS FOR ROAD PAVEMENTS - STANDARD CONSTRUCTION - RSTO 75 FOR ROAD BASES. THE GENERAL THEORETICAL PRINCIPLES AND THE BASIC DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CONCRETE AND SOIL STABILIZATION ARE DISCUSSED AND EXAMPLES OF ITS WIDE APPLICATION ARE GIVEN, E.G. IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION FOR THE STABILIZATION OF THE UPPER LAYER OF THE FROST BLANKET AND FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE FORMATION, IN FARM ROAD CONSTRUCTION, FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SITE ROADS, IN CANAL CONSTRUCTION, FOR STABILIZING THE SLOPES OF DYKES, IN RAILROAD CONSTRUCTION, ETC. SATISFACTORY EXPERIENCE WITH BOTH TECHNIQUES (MIXED-IN-BASE AND MIXED-IN-PLANT) IS REPORTED. IN HAMBURG, THE USE OF SAND-CEMENT MATERIAL IN MIXED-IN-PLANT TECHNIQUE INSTEAD OF BITUMINOUS ROAD BASES HAS BECOME CUSTOMARY.
