THE LIGHT PROPERTIES OF PAVEMENT SURFACES FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF ROAD CONSTRUCTION

THE MINIMUM LUMINANCE REQUIREMENTS OF ROAD SURFACES ARE SO HIGH THAT THEY ARE ONLY RARELY ACHIEVED. FOR MAIN ROADS THE MINIMUM COEFFICIENT REQUIRED OF THE DRY SURFACE IS 2 CD/SQ M. IN THE DESIGN OF LIGHTING EQUIPMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LUMINANCE, THE VARIOUS DEGREES OF REFLECTIVITY OF THE ROAD SURFACE ARE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. THE REFLECTIVITY BEHAVIOUR IS DEPENDENT ON THE FOLLOWING CONSTRUCTIONAL FACTORS: STRUCTURE, CONDITION OF WEAR, CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS AND LIGHTENING MATERIALS. THE METHOD OF MEASURING THE REFLECTION INDICATRIX IS DESCRIBED. MEASUREMENTS WERE CARRIED OUT ON LABORATORY PREPARED SAMPLES. IT APPEARS THAT THE INFLUENCE OF DAMP CONDITIONS ON THE REFLECTION CAPACITY CAN BE DETERMINED, THAT THE CHANGE IN THE REFLEX DATA BECAUSE OF WEAR CAN BE ESTIMATED AND THAT WITH THE AID OF CHARACTERISTIC COEFFICIENTS FOR THE SURFACE TEXTURE, THE CHANGES IN THE REFLECTION BEHAVIOUR CAN BE DESCRIBED.
