THE INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETER, THE OPERATION OF WHICH IS EXPLAINED, ENABLES ONE TO DETERMINE THE PROPORTIONS OF VARIOUS CONSTITUENTS IN SEALING COATS ANALYTICALLY. THE SAME TECHNIQUES MUST BE APPLIED TO THE ANALYSIS OF SEALING COATS AS ARE USED FOR DETERMINING THE PROPORTIONS OF ORGANIC MATERIALS IN THE BASE MATERIAL. INFRARED DIAGRAMS ARE PRODUCED OF THE VARIOUS SOLVENTS, ORGANIC BINDERS, PLASTICIZERS, AUXILIARY AGENTS AND AN INORGANIC PIGMENT FOR COATINGS OF VARIOUS TYPES, FOR PAINTS AND ENRICHED CEMENT MORTARS. IN THE METHOD EXPLAINED, IT IS POSSIBLE TO DETERMINE FOR EXAMPLE, IN THE CASE OF DAMAGED COATINGS, THE NATURE AND QUANTITY OF COATING MATERIAL, PLASTICIZER, AUXILIARY MATERIALS, SOLVENTS AND HARDENERS.
