THE MODULUS OF ELASTICITY ESTABLISHED BY HOOKE'S LAW AS A BASIS FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF BEARING CAPACITY IS NOT CLEARLY DETERMINABLE IN THE CASE OF ROAD BUILDING MATERIALS OF LOOSE STONE BOUND WITH BITUMEN. HERE THE INFLUENCE OF TEMPERATURE, SLAB SIZE, SPEED OF LOAD APPLICATION AND THE DURATION OF LOAD EFFECTS ARE OF GREAT SIGNIFICANCE. HERE A DISTINCTION IS MADE BETWEEN THE E-MODULUS (STATIC E INDEX) FOR LONG DURATION LOAD EFFECT AND THE DYNAMIC E INDEX FOR TEMPORARY LOAD EFFECT. DESIGN TECHNIQUES FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS ARE BASED ON TEMPORARY EFFECT IN THE CASE OF MOVING TRAFFIC LOADS. THE AUTHOR PRESENTS A METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE DYNAMIC AND STATIC E INDICES. WHEREAS THE DETERMINATION OF THE STATIC E INDEX IS CLEAR CUT, THE EXPERIMENTAL TECHNICAL CALCULATION OF THE DYNAMIC E INDEX NECESSITATES A MORE DETAILED EXAMINATION.
