COMPARATIVE LONG-TERM STUDIES OF BEHAVIOUR IN OPERATION ARE BEING CARRIED OUT ON THREE TYPES OF PAVEMENT. THE PAVEMENTS COMPRISE A STANDARD STRUCTURE WITH A BITUMINOUS ROADBASE, A STANDARD STRUCTURE WITH A GRAVEL ROADBASE, AND A STRUCTURE HAVING A COMBINED GRAVEL FROST BLANKET/ROADBASE DESIGNED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEORETICAL CALCULATIONS OF STIFFNESS. SPECIAL VALUES FUNCTIONS ARE TO BE DETERMINED FROM THE RESULTS OF THE STUDIES AND BY MEANS OF THEORETICAL STRESS CALCULATIONS.
