THE INTENTION IS TO CARRY OUT MEASUREMENTS OF SKIDDING RESISTANCE WITH A SUFFICIENTLY LARGE NUMBER OF TYRES OF THE SAME TYPE AND SIZE FROM THE SAME MANUFACTURER, AND TO OBSERVE THE SCATTER IN THE RESULTS OF THE MEASUREMENTS; AFTERWARDS THE SAME MEASURING SECTION IS TO BE MEASURED WITH A FEW EXAMPLES OF THIS SERIES N TIMES. A COMPARISON OF BOTH SERIES OF MEASUREMENTS WILL ENABLE THE RELIABILITY OF THE EVALUATION OF ROAD SLIPPERINESS BY ONE TYRE TO BE COMPARED WITH THE EVALUATION BY A COLLECTION OF TYRES. CORRESPONDING CONTROL MEASUREMENTS HAVE TO BE CARRIED OUT WITH TYRES OF A DIFFERENT MAKE. IF ONE USES AS A DIAGONAL TYRE THE HITHERTO STANDARD TYRE, AND AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE RADIAL TYRE THE FUTURE MEASURING TYRE, ONE OBTAINS SIMULTANEOUSLY A RELATION BETWEEN THE SKIDDING RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT VALUES OF BOTH TYRES. AS WELL AS A STUDY OF THE TYRE-RELATED SCATTER OF THE COEFFICIENTS OF SLIDING, THE INFLUENCE OF TREAD DEPTH ON THE SKIDDING RESISTANCE VALUES IS TO BE EXAMINED.
