TESTING OF A UNIVERSAL FRICTION METER WITH A VIEW TO DETERMINING TYRE CONTACT COEFFICIENTS UNDER SLIP

THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE UNIVERSAL FRICTION METER IS COMPLETED. BEFORE THE UNIVERSAL FRICTION METER CAN BE USED AS A PIECE OF MEASURING EQUIPMENT, THE INDIVIDUAL CONSTRUCTION GROUPS AND MEASURING DEVICES HAVE TO BE TESTED. THE TESTING OF THE UNIVERSAL FRICTION METER WITH REFERENCE TO DETERMINATION OF DRIVING SPEED AND TYRE-ROAD ADHESION COEFFICIENTS AT 100% SLIP (COEFFICIENT OF SLIDING) IS CURRENTLY BEING UNDERTAKEN. THE PROBLEM OF ADJUSTING TO ANY DESIRED, BUT DEFINED SLIP CONDITIONS, IS NEW. THE SOLUTION OF THIS PROBLEM IS THEREFORE BEING DEALT WITH SEPARATELY IN THIS RESEARCH PROJECT. TESTS HAVE TO BE CARRIED OUT WITH THE HYDROSTATIC UNIT, WITH THE AIM OF BEING ABLE TO ADJUST TO CONSTANT SLIP UNDER DEFINED CONDITIONS. THE ADJUSTMENT DATA OF THE HYDROSTATIC UNIT HAVE TO BE DETERMINED FOR VARIOUS SLIP CONDITIONS, SO THAT MEASUREMENTS OF TYRE-ROAD ADHESION UNDER SLIP ARE POSSIBLE.
