THE WALLONIE MOTORWAY, THE LAST HAUTRAGE - TOURNAI SECTION

AUTOROUTE DE WALLONIE, DERNIER TRONCON HAUTRAGE - TOURNAI

THIS MOTORWAY SECTION HAS THE ADVANTAGE OF HAVING BEEN BUILT IN A PARTICULARLY SHORT TIME THROUGH DIFFICULT TERRAIN THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING ADVANCED TECHNIQUES: STABILIZATION; INTENSIVE TAMPING; REINFORCED EARTH WALL (THE FIRST ONE IN BELGIUM); LAYING OF A PARTIAL SURFACING IN CONTINUOUSLY REINFORCED CONCRETE WITH LOW WORKABILITY AND HIGH STRENGTH, AND WITH TRANSVERSE OBLIQUE REINFORCEMENT. GROOVING WAS CARRIED OUT WITH A TOOTHED COMB, THE LONGITUDINAL JOINT WAS SAWN, THE ROADBASE WAS BUILT WITH LEAN CONCRETE AND THE EXPERIMENTAL SURFACING IS CONSTRUCTED WITH SEMI-CONTINUOUS CONCRETE WITH SPS OPTIMIZED EXPANSION JOINTS WHICH PREVENT DIFFERENTIAL SETTLEMENT. A BRIEF OUTLINE OF MOTORWAYS IN BELGIUM IS APPENDED.
