THE NORWEGIAN HIGHWAY AUTHORITIES TEST THEIR SNOW PLOUGHS

THE AUTHOR BRIEFLY DESCRIBES A TEST PROGRAM PERFORMED ON DIFFERENT TYPES OF SNOW PLOUGHS, BOTH OF NORWEGIAN AND FOREIGN DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE. A PILOT PROJECT WAS RUN IN MARCH 1970 AND THE MAIN PROJECT FOLLOWED IN 1971. SOME OF THE FACTORS CONSIDERED IN THE TESTS WERE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS, PLOUGH PROFILES AND THROW DISTANCE. ALL TEST RUNS IN THE FIELD WERE RECORDED ON FILM. THE DESIGN OF THE CONNECTING JOINTS BETWEEN PLOUGH AND VEHICLE WERE ALSO CONSIDERED FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF SAFETY, STRENGTH AND TIME REQUIRED FOR CONNECTING THE PLOUGH. /TRRL/
