PROPERTIES OF CONCRETE SUBJECTED TO FAIRLY LOW TEMPERATURES BETWEEN -10 AND +80

PROPRIETES DU BETON SOUMIS A DES TEMPERATURES MODEREES ENTRE MOINS 10 ET PLUS 80

TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT ON 7 TYPES OF CONCRETE DIFFERING BY THE NATURE OF THEIR AGGREGATES; 350 KG CEMENT WAS USED PER CUBIC METRE. THE TESTS CONCERNED THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES, COMPRESSIVE AND TENSILE STRENGTH, MODULUS OF ELASTICITY, THERMAL PROPERTIES AND THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY. RESULTS SHOW THAT, FOR GIVEN CURING TECHNIQUES, THE MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS INCREASE WHEN THE TEST IS CONDUCTED AT A TEMPERATURE LOWER THAN 20 DEG C AND HARDLY CHANGE WHEN THE TEMPERATURE INCREASES UP TO 80 DEG C. THE MASS HEAT HOVERS AROUND 0,2 KCAL/KG WHILE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY VALUES ARE HIGHER THAN THOSE USED IN PRACTICE.
