THE CONCRETE IS CONSIDERED AS AN EXAMPLE OF A DEFORMABLE MEDIUM. IT IS ASSUMED TO CONSIST OF A HOMOGENEOUS AND CONTINUOUS MEDIUM, FURTHERMORE THE LENGTH OF THE BASES OF THE MEASUREMENT OF DEFORMATIONS HAS BEEN CHOSEN IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THE DEFORMATION OF THE CONCRETE CONSTITUENTS, AGGREGATES AND MORTAR, MAY BE REPRESENTED FAITHFULLY FOLLOWING THIS BASE, TAKING ACCOUNT OF THEIR STATISTICAL DISTRIBUTION IN THE CONCRETE. THE PRESSURE GAUGES PERMIT THE MEASUREMENT OF SIX DEFORMATION COMPONENTS INSIDE THE CONCRETE.
