CONSTRUCTION OF RURAL TRACKS

AMENAGEMENT DES PISTES RURALES

AMONG THE ROADS OF A ROAD NETWORK, IMPROVED TRACKS CAN BE CLASSIFIED INTO THE CATEGORY OF TERTIARY ROADS USED TO BREAK DOWN BARRIERS BETWEEN AGRICULTURAL REGIONS. THE TRAFFIC IS USUALLY LIGHT. THEY ARE PRIMARILY BUILT TO ENSURE A PERMANENT LINK BETWEEN RURAL PRODUCTIVE REGIONS AND URBAN CENTRES WHERE THE RURAL PRODUCTS ARE CONSUMED OR PROCESSED. DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF THE ECONOMIC AND TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF AGRICULTURAL TRACK CONSTRUCTION TOGETHER WITH EXAMPLES OF TRACKS ALREADY BUILT IN MALI, TOGO AND THE CENTRAFRICAN REPUBLIC. FOR THE COVERING ABSTRACT, SEE IRRD ABSTRACT NO. 104729.
