REPORT ON THE EVALUATION OF MULTI LAYERED ELASTIC AND VISCO-ELASTIC BODIES

BEITRAG ZUR BERECHNUNG VON MEHRFACH GESCHICHTETEN ELASTISCHEN UND VISKOELASTISCHEN KOERPERN

THE WORK IS CONCERNED WITH THE RATIONAL REPRESENTATION OF INFLUENCE FACTORS FOR THE PARAMETERS OF THREE DIMENSIONAL ELASTIC BODIES, WHICH CONSIST OF A GIVEN NUMBER OF PLANE PARALLEL LAYERS. BY THE APPLICATION OF A SPECIAL TECHNIQUE, OF THE TRANSFER PROCEDURE WITH A DELTA MATRIX, A NUMERICAL METHOD HAS BEEN DEVELOPED WHICH MAY BE RATIONALLY ILLUSTRATED AS A COMPUTER PROGRAM AND PROVIDES SAVINGS IN CALCULATION TIME. IT DEALS WITH PLANE LAYERED BODIES OR THOSE IN AN AXIALLY SYMMETRICAL STATE OF STRAIN, WITH GIVEN BUT COMPATIBLE ORIGIN AND BOUNDARY CONDITIONS. TO THESE THERE ALSO BELONG LAMINATED MEDIA WITH ASSOCIATED HALF-SPACE. THE MATERIAL IS ASSUMED TO BE LINEAR ELASTIC AND ALSO TIME DEPENDENT. BECAUSE THE LAPLACE TRANSFORMATION MAY BE APPLIED IN THE TIME DEPENDENT CASE, DISCRETIONARY LAWS OF MATERIALS MAY BE APPLIED: IT MUST HOWEVER BE NOTED THAT IN NON-LINEAR CASES THE TRANSFER PROCEDURE NO LONGER HOLDS GOOD. EXAMPLES ARE PROVIDED OF BOTH LINEAR ELASTIC AND VISCO-ELASTIC PROBLEMS; THE ZENER MODEL IS APPLIED. THE APPLICATION AREA OF INFLUENCE CO-EFFICIENTS FOR LAMINATED MEDIA IS VERY WIDELY SPREAD AND REACHES FROM SOIL MECHANICS (SETTLEMENT CALCULATIONS), THE CALCULATIONS FOR SANDWICH CONSTRUCTION (BUILDINGS, REACTORS AND AIRCRAFT) TO ITS APPLICATION FOR CONTACT PROBLEMS (MATERIAL TESTING AND MACHINE CONSTRUCTION).
